Chicago Male Salon

Web content strategy and copywriting for Chicago Male Salon, a boutique salon/spa in Boystown.

Chicago Male Salon

Today’s Chicago Male Salon is a far cry from the men’s-only chop shop that reality TV junkies may remember from “Tabatha’s Salon Takeover.” The business changed hands in 2015 with renovations and rebranding to establish a more inclusive, modern environment. We created a new visual and verbal identity for the web presence: a modern website user flow with crisp visuals to mirror the salon’s airy interior, plus plug & play copy for social media and customer review channels.

WEBSITE

The scene: Boystown, a loft-like space with exposed brick bathed in natural light. The star: you, cozied up by the fireplace with a glass of red as an award-winning esthetician gives you a fade that’ll change your life.

In-page navigation

In the header navigation, “Services” drops down to three pages: “Hair,” “Face,” and “Body.” Within each page, customers can jump to subcategories to find specific treatments and styling options, rather than scroll through one text-heavy vertical list.

Bios

I interviewed the whole team to better understand their backgrounds, specialties, and non-work interests. Here’s a sampling of the copy I wrote for the “Team” page.

More content

For SEO purposes and bragging rights, we wanted to showcase the media’s praise for the salon and its staff. The “Press” page drives visitors to popular local publications and Best of Chicago lists.
